Best players of New Zealand NBL round 5 (by Hoops Agents)

American Josiah Allick (203-F-2001) had a very impressive game in the last round for Southland Sharks and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds, while his team was edged out by Jets (#6, 3-2) 88-85. Sharks maintains the 9th position in New Zealand NBL. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 3 games and had just one victory. Allick just recently signed at Sharks, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Nebraska graduate has very impressive stats this year. Allick is in league's top in points (9th best: 21.8ppg), rebounds (6th best: 9.8rpg) and averages solid 74.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Dontae Russo-Nance (190-G-2005) of Manawatu Jets. Russo-Nance impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. It was enough for Jets to edge the lower-ranked Sharks (#9, 1-3) by 3 points 88-85. This victory allowed Jets to move up to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 3-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Russo-Nance is one of the most experienced players at Jets and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Jack Andrew (208-C/F-2001) of Taranaki Airs (#3). Andrew scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Airs, leading his team to a 114-88 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Hawks (#5, 3-2). Airs needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Andrew has a great season in New Zealand. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.5rpg (2nd best).

9. Carlin Davison (197-SF-2003) of Airs - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists
10. Eric Williams Jr. (201-F-1999) of Jets - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
